Department confirmed that Stone has given six months notice of his intention to leave his post as CDIO at the end of March 2017

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that its chief digital and information officer (CDIO) Mike Stone is to leave the department in Spring next year.

Stone has given six month's notice to the ministry that he intends to leave. He is expected to depart at the end of March 2017, the MoD confirmed today.

No replacement has yet been determined and Stone will work out his six months notice, it is understood. The MoD has not confirmed an earlier indication that Ivan Hopper will take up an interim role.

Stone's impending departure has already been noted by some companies who have worked closely with him at the department.

"Mike was extremely approachable and supportive of disruptive SMEs like us. So it will be a shame to see him move on," said John Glover, sales and marketing director at collaboration specialist Kahootz.
